KOREAN WAR

In 1950, sixteen nations, including the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, sent troops to the Korean peninsula to assist South Korea against the North Korean aggression.
In total, 85 Luxembourgish volunteers (who were incorporated into the Belgian United Nations Command) fought in the Korean War (June 25, 1950 – July 27, 1953) amongst the United Nations Command.
The diorama in our museum displays a typical scene from the Korean War in 1952-53. At that time, the war has settled into a stalemate around the 38th parallel. The diorama shows a bunker scene at “White Horse Hill” (located near the city of Chorwon).
