"Acknowledgements

Although the original idea dealt with a total of three books, you have nowt the fourth volume in hand.

This is not only the fulfilment of the demand of a great number of bayonets enthousiasts, but also because of what started as an idea of putting down on paper my own collection and that of Frank van Gelder has become a kind of snowball effect as many fellow-collectors placed available specimens from their collection.

Especially Mr. Frank Centala has overhelmed me with material from his collection. Also Monsieur Pierre Renoux has done a great deal of work and much of the material for his volume came from these two friends and I wish to express my heartfelt thanks to both of them.
